James “Jim” Byron Berg, 48, of Leitchfield, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on February 29, 1964 in Williston, ND, the son of Byron D. Berg and Nancy Hauge Berg. Jim served in the United States Navy from 1987 until 1993 and was a veteran of Desert Storm. He was employed at Leggett and Platt Inc. for more that 15 years.

Jim is survived by his only son, Josh Berg (Katy), and two grandchildren, Ava Kate and Roan Joshua, all of Lehi, Utah; his mother Nancy C. Bratcher, and sister Debbie Berg, both of Caneyville; his brother, Steve Keller (Jennifer), of Leitchfield; his nephews, Gavin Moss and Derrick Marmon, and his children, Brooke Lynn and Cyrus James; his nieces, Courtney and Madison Keller, of Minnesota; two step-nieces, Courtney and Ashton Mobley; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Strand, of Williston, ND; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Byron D. Berg.

Cremation was chosen

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Stones View Methodist Church. Bro. Mike Cannon will be officiating. Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville is in charge of arrangements.
