Nell Shartzer, age 56, of Leitchfield, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born on July 4, 1956 in Ohio County, the daughter of Sam Cannon and Mary Lois Decker.
She was a housewife, who was a devoted wife, mother and nanny. She was a member of the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rickey Shartzer; two sons, Shannon Shartzer (Jessica), of Leitchfield, and Bailey Cannon, of Leitchfield; one granddaughter, Chloe Shartzer; her mother, Mary Lois Brown, of Hardinsburg; two sisters, Mary Lou Carmon (Pete), of Olaton, and Georgie Williams (Fairley), of Leitchfield; five brothers, Hulen (Mary) and Harry Cannon (Rita), both of Leitchfield, Jerry (Diane), of Horse Branch, Felix (Jil), of Indiana, and Ricky Joe Cannon, of Hardinsburg; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hillard Cannon, and her step-father, Morton Brown.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Broadway Missionary Baptist Church. Bro Joseph Wyatt and Bro. William Dotson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Broadway Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12-9 p.m. on Sunday and at the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church from 9 a.m. Monday until time of services.
