Richard D. Alvey, age 90 of Clarkson, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home, in Leitchfield.
He was born October 9, 1921 in Grayson County, the son of the late William Conrad and Marguerite VanMeter Alvey. He served in the Army during WWII. After returning home he started working as a Rural Mail Carrier in Grayson County, and after many years of service he retired to enjoy life with his family and friends. Dick was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips with his children, grandchildren and friends. Each of these trips always brought home a funny story to be cherished by all.
He was a life-long member and deacon of Clarkson Baptist Church and could always be counted on to go beyond his call of duty. He was a big fan of his UK basketball team. Dick leaves us with many memories that will always bring a smile to our faces. We love you and will miss you, dear friend.
Richard is survived by wis wife, Jean Alvey, of Clarkson; four sons, Richard Lee Alvey, of Murfreesboro, TN, Conrad E. Alvey, of Caneyville, Mark A. Morris (Melisa), of Campbellsville, and Michael W.
