Percy “Steve” Edward Stevenson

In the early morning of April 2, 2012, Steve Stevenson left the loving arms of his family and passed into the eternal arms of God.

Steve was born in Dog Creek, Ky. to Barney and Rosie Stevenson, the youngest of 12 children. He spent his early years helping on his parents’ farm. The family moved to Clarkson, where they continued farming and Steve attended Clarkson School, graduating high school in 1949.

At that time, Steve enlisted in the U. S. Army. Over his 30-year army career, Steve served in Korea, Viet Nam, Bolivia, and stateside in army intelligence. He was proud of his service to his country.

Upon his retirement from the army as a Sgt 1st Class, Steve worked for John Ascuaga’s Nugget as a slot manager for 20 years. Upon retirement from the Nugget, Steve and his wife, Dorothy, enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, and watching their grandchildren grow and achieve.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, 10 siblings and his first wife, Jean.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Dorothy; his daughter, Rosemary “Penny” Witham (Jerry) and their children, Sharla Taft (John), Melissa and Morgan; his step-children, Dee Lynn Armstrong (Mark) and their children, Ross and Alyson (Kyle);Jodi Smith (Jerry) and their children Sean, Brian, and Adam; Grant “Butch” Anderson (Susan) and their children, Scott and David; Karen Simms (John) and their children, Jason, Kendra, Tyler and Zachariah; three great-grandchildren, J. D. Taft, Kylan Anderson, and baby Howe, due in June. He is also survived by one brother, Jack (Thelma), of Louisville.

A private family interment was held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Sierra Memorial Gardens, in Sparks, Nev.
