Lainhart arrested on child sexual abuse charges

A Grayson County man has been arrested on charges of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.

According to the Breckenridge County Circuit Court Clerk’s office, 51-year-old William Tad Lainhart, of Falls of Rough, is being charged with five counts of sodomy in the second degree, four counts of rape in the first degree, and one count of sexual abuse in the first degree of a child under the age of 12.

A press release from Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Norman Chaffins said that the incidents, which allegedly occurred in 2005, involved “two children who were ages ten to thirteen at the time of the offenses.”

Lainhart was arrested on Tuesday, March 5 at approximately 6:30 p.m. by KSP Detective Ryan Johnson, and was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center, where he was held on a $50,000 full cash bond until the following day.

On Wednesday, March 6, Lainhart was transported to the Breckenridge County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond, according to Major Dale Cornatzer, with the BCDC.

Lainhart is scheduled to be arraigned on these charges in Breckenridge County on Wednesday, March 20, according to a representative with the Circuit Court Clerk’s office.
