Gova D. Bratcher, 89, of Caneyville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home, in Leitchfield.
He was born on February 16, 1923 in Butler County, the son of the late Jimmie and Minnie (Sipes) Bratcher. He was a World War II Veteran where he received a Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. Gova was a carpenter and a member of the American Legion Post 81 of Leitchfield.
He is survived by two children, Joan Hayes, of Caneyville, and Bobby Bratcher, of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, Tez Hawkins (Scotty), Jake Bratcher, Robbie Hayes (Amy) and Julie Embry (Timothy); eight great-grandchildren, Hootie and Rylie Hayes, Emily and Jenna Beth Embry, Jett, Maelee, Ty and Dain Hawkins, and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and their son Jimmie Bratcher, one brother and 11 sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville, with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
