Students at the Grayson County Technology Center are celebrating HOSA week with a variety of activities over the coming days.

HOSA, or the Health Occupations Students of America, is an organization for students considering careers in the medical field.

On Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, a HOSA group will visit the pediatric clinic at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center to recognize the clinic as a HOSA health science partner.

“They have provided shadowing experiences for my students and have given a generous donation,” said HOSA adviser Donna S. Priest.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, students will go to Grayson County Middle School to provide information on the process of starting a HOSA chapter there.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, HOSA students will participate at the annual health fair at the Breckinridge-Grayson counties Head Start program. At the fair, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m., the students will be taking blood pressures and discussing disaster preparedness and portion control.

On Friday, Nov. 16, HOSA students will visit Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to tour the simulation labs for radiography, respiratory and nursing.

Also on Friday, HOSA will host a Zumbathon fundraiser at the middle school from 5 to 7 p.m. The entry fee is $10, with $5 going to HOSA and $5 going to cystic fibrosis research.
