After chasing suspects in Big Clifty for several hours Sunday, Sheriff Detective Bryan Hammons and Trooper Neal Pagan finally arrested two men for burglary in the third degree, criminal trespassing in the second degree and theft by unlawful taking more than $300 from an automobile.

Michael Pence, Jr., 24 of Stephensburg, and Josh Huff, 19 of Big Clifty, were arrested after allegedly stealing property from a car and abandoned house owned by James Alexander, then storing the stolen property in a field owned by the same man.

Alexander found the property and saw the men as he was leaving the field to call the authorities.

Hammons and Pagan were notified at 9:49 a.m. and wrapped up the case by 2:30 p.m.

Police said Pence and Huff had boasted of their misdeed to another person in the Big Clifty area, then allegedly stole $10 from that person.

Officers said two witnesses identified the men with written statements.

Both were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. Bond has been set at $5,000 each.
