Virginia Justis Smith, 89, died on June 6, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mrs. Smith was born in Butler County, Kentucky on October 9, 1920, the second child of Richard E. and Alice (Woosley) Justis. She was salutatorian of the Caneyville, Kentucky High School Class of 1942.

She was the widow of George A. Smith, who predeceased her in 1982. She has been a Colorado resident for over 60 years and retired from McGraw Hill Companies, formerly Shepherds Citation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita J. Wilson, and two brothers, Bertrand W. Justis and R.E. Justis, Jr.. Survivors include two sisters, Mayron J. Cockrel of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Norma J. Stratford of Jacksonville, Florida; and one brother, Paul G. Justis of Lexington, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Carol VanWaggenen.

A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Private burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
