Clarkson is hosting a special day on June 13 to let residents see firsthand all of the changes they have made to improve the overall aspect of the city.

Starting at 3:30 p.m. on that Sunday, a ceremony will take place in the parking lot beside Bank of Clarkson (located off of East Main Street).

Toting the name ‘Clarkson Community Pride’, people get the opportunity to enjoy a small meal, visit with local public officials and tour the ins and outs of the new equipment purchased by the city commission.

Clarkson City Clerk and Treasurer Alicia Hayes explained the public would get the chance to see the new fire truck, police cruiser and garbage truck.

“It is a great way for people to see their tax dollars at work,” Hayes said. “The fire department will be giving a 15-minute slide presentation. We will have the new vehicles available for everyone to see, and Cattlemen’s volunteers will be cooking hotdogs for us.”

Clarkson Mayor Bonnie Henderson added that the event was free of charge for visitors.

“We have been planning on something like this for sometime,” Henderson said. “It was uncertain at first on when the new fire truck was going to arrive. Now that it is here, we decided to go ahead and invite people to come out and celebrate with us.”

Anyone with additional questions about ‘Clarkson’s Community Pride’ can contact Clarkson City Hall by phone at 270-242-6997.
