Due to the recent rash of break-ins in Leitchfield, officers have become extra cautious in keeping an eye on strange activity around businesses in town.
According to Leitchfield Police Department Detective Gary Troutman, Rebecca Smith, 24, Anneta Road, was arrested on May 25 and charged with manufacturing meth-first offense.
Officer Robert Jackson noticed Smith’s 1993 Ford Explorer at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday in Save-A-Lot’s parking lot.
Jackson approached the SUV and smelt a strong chemical odor coming from it. After getting the okay from Smith to search her vehicle, Jackson discovered a one-step meth lab and several other items that could be used to manufacture meth.
