A rash of break-ins occurred over the weekend at three different businesses, with police questioning if the thefts were connected in any way and looking for leads to the culprits.

Sometime late Friday or early on the morning of May 15, Wilson Dental Clinic (Elizabethtown Road, Leitchfield), Cato (adjacent to Walmart) and Fantastic Sams (located beside Cato) were all broken into.

Leitchfield Police Detective Gary Troutman explained that one or more people entered the dental office and attempted to steal items from the business. It is still undetermined at this time as to what was taken, because the final report is in the process of being finalized.

The two remaining businesses, Fantastic Sams and Cato, had petty cash stolen. In addition to the petty cash, many women’s stretch band watches with square faces were stolen from Cato.

Police have no leads at this time, but are asking for anyone with information to any of the cases to contact the department by phone at 270-259-3850. All information will be kept confidential.

“At this time we cannot determine if the break-ins are connected,” Troutman stressed. “We are still looking into this. We have no leads at this time.”

The crimes that occurred over the weekend bring the total number of unsolved break-in cases to four for the month of May.

Save-A-Lot (North English Street, Leitchfield) was the first business to be broken into. That theft took place on May 8.

Troutman said the perpetrator entered the business by force. After inside, the individual was unable to get any money from the store. Luckily police were able to capture some video-surveillance footage of the incident.

No one has been named as a suspect in this case as of yet.
