Clarkson is the third city to follow suit in improving their overall aesthetics, by installing two new ‘Welcome to Clarkson’ signs at both entrances into town.

Peerce Signs, located off of Lilac Road, installed the new signage on Tuesday morning.

Clarkson Commissioners approved the $2,000 purchase during a regularly scheduled meeting in February. Funding for the project came out of the city’s general fund.

Mayor Bonnie Henderson stressed the importance of showcasing the town’s heritage over the years. That is why the Kentucky’s Official State Honey Festival bee, as well as the Clarkson Redhawk, had to be adorned on the front of the newly installed structure.

“These are the two items the city is most known for,” Henderson said.

The reason for the change in signage was that the other structures were older, and showing signs of wear.
