Leitchfield’s alcohol vote should have been county-wide

TO THE EDITOR:

I have been a resident of Grayson County for 6 years. I do not understand why only residents of the City of Leitchfield got to vote on this issue.

I live outside city limits but I work in the city and I shop and eat in the city.

This vote affects ALL of Grayson County. Grayson County is suppose to be a dry county but alcohol can be bought and consumed. Why is this????

I have decided not to eat at the restaurants that will be serving alcohol. When I dine out, I expect to have a relaxing dinner free of drunken patrons. Anyone who has children that go out to eat with them should consider what their children will be exposed to.

Any one that wants to consume alcohol should do so in the privacy of their home. I am sure the next step will be liquor stores on every corner. This is the beginning of a very bad situation and will only get worse. I wonder how many times the law will be called to a restaurant for a drunk and disorderly patron?

I guess the reasoning for everyone in Grayson County not to get to vote on this is that it would have been voted down. How convenient!! I think it should be voted on again and this time EVERYONE in Grayson County that is a registered voter should get to vote. Of course, this is just my opinion but I felt the need to express myself.

Thank you

P. Cahill
