I really felt the need to express my feelings on the Yes/No vote coming up March 23rd.There are two subjects in which I wish to express my thoughts...Our economy is in trouble as everyone knows and it is up to us to do everything we can to help.
I believe passionately that voting yes on March 23rd to allow alcohol to be served in restaurant's that seat at least one hundred people would not only bring economic growth to our city but would allow our city to grow by leaps and bounds.
I have traveled all over the United States throughout my life and have seen and lived in the big city's as well as the small ones. It seems to me it is always the smaller city's that are hurting the most.
I have heard so many times " What does allowing alcohol in our city have to do with growth." The answer is simple it will bring more jobs because more businesses will build here. There are many very nice restaurant's that will not even consider coming to our town because we are dry.
Alcohol licenses comes with training programs for those who sale it. Therefore we are a more responsible community. I can't express enough the number of jobs this will create for Leitchfield and the things that most are worrying about are not really going to be a issue.
Most no voter only see the word alcohol and they stop the thought process at that point. We are not bringing in bars on every corner. We are bringing in nice restaurants that will serve a few drinks at dinner and again with training as to whom to and not to serve. Please research this before making a decision based on personal feelings...
The second thing I wanted to share is I am not even really a drinker. I mite have one here and there but I really am not crazy about alcohol at all. I have lost relationships to alcohol and I have seen people fall into very bad places in their lives because of alcohol. BUT my personal feeling/pain shouldn't be the deciding factor on this. Just because its something I don't like or that I fear doesn't mean I should vote no. I choose to vote yes because it is something that will help my family and friends. It is something that will help my community. If someone wants to drink my voting no is not going to stop them. Trust me on that!
This decision can change the future for our child and grandchildren by allowing our city to grow they can stay here and grow with the city instead of moving away to find jobs. Some are worried about alcohol being here. Please look at the bigger picture and put your pain and or fear aside.
Do the no voter's really believe that keeping alcohol out of restaurant's are going to make our streets saver. Have you looked at the drug abuse here. Meth is crawling all over our city, people are hooked on pills, marijuana, and many other things. Voting no will not stop people who want to drink from drinking..
Please reconsider and support YOUR community, Vote Yes....March 23rd
