A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Grayson County man on several felonies charges including manufacturing methamphetamine
According to a report from the Grayson County Sheriff Department, Deputy Robert Jackson attempted to stop Charles Clemons, 28, of 4495 Bloomington Road, Leitchfield when Clemons on a traffic violation, when Clemons took off and proceeded to elude arrest.
“Jackson chased him for a short time when he stopped at the South Gate Mall and fled on foot,” said Chief Deputy Tony Willen.
After a brief foot-pursuit Clemons was apprehended and his vehicle was searched. Several items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle, reported Willen.
He was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), third-degree criminal mischief, driving on a DUI suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription drug not in original container.
He is currently being held at the Grayson County Detention Center. Leitchfield City Police and Kentucky State police assisted with the arrest.
