Roy Daniel Boone, age 62 of Bessemer City, North Carolina, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 1, 1947 in Caneyville, the son of Ralph R. and Christine S. Boone.

Danny was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and an outstanding human being. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother, who resides in Caneyville. He is also survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Boone, of Bessemer City; a son, Clifford C. Boling and wife Lynn Angel, of Dallas, N. C.; a daughter, Teirney B. Cartee, of Bessemer City; two brothers, Ralph R. “Rusty” Boone and wife Barbara, of Elizabethtown, and Michael W. Boone and wife Debbie, of Caneyville; a grandson, Michael Scott Cartee; a granddaughter, Dusty Angel; a great-grandson, Dalton Morrow.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City with Rev. Dick Whitener officiating. Interment was at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with full military honors by the American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.
