The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office ended the year closing yet another meth lab in the county.

With a total of 19 labs being cleaned up by the sheriff’s department in 2009 there were 34 arrests made.

According to a report from Grayson County Sheriff Detective Terry Blanton the first arrest was made on Wednesday, December 30 when a warrant was obtained through investigation at 3895 Peonia Road.

“When we arrived at the residence we found numerous ingredients and equipment known to be used in manufacturing methamphetamine,” said Blanton. “Chad Clemons, 19, of Clarkson and Brian Keith Clemons, 39, were both arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of a controlled subject.”

A firearm was found on the younger Clemons as well as marijuana so in addition to the previous charges Clemons was charged with possession of marijuana.

Both men are currently being held at the Grayson County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

Two more arrests were made on New Years Eve when Blanton obtained a warrant for 3974 Grayson Springs Road.

“A very strong chemical odor was noticeable in the backyard of the residence before I entered the building, “ said Blanton.

Delores McClurg, 46, was apprehended when Blanton entered the building.

Kentucky State Trooper Seth Lee continued to search the residence and found a working meth lab in the attic.

“I observed a plastic bottle that contained a one-step lab in the process of cooking meth,” said Blanton. There were several other items used in manufacturing meth also in the room.

Brent Coates, 33, who was outside of the home tried to run but was also arrested. Both were charged with manufacturing methamphetamines and are currently being held at the Grayson County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
