A two-vehicle accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway on Friday night left one man being transferred to a Louisville-area hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

According to Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Jackson, Christopher Baker, 20, Shepherdsville, was traveling eastbound on the WK Parkway when his car struck a tractor-trailer in the left side, causing Baker’s vehicle to overturn numerous times. Baker’s 1998 Honda Civic ended up coming to a rest facing northbound in the slow lane of traffic.

Lauren Heil (who was a witness to the accident) explained that Baker was ejected through the passenger side of his car, and was found lying on the ground.

In Jackson’s report, he explained that Christian County Yellow Ambulance workers responded to the scene of the accident and rendered aid to Baker.

Heil added that Baker had attempted to pass the semi-truck and trailer, driven by Alvin Clan, at a high rate of speed.

Baker was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by LifeNet services, where he was treated for head trauma and possible fractures to his shoulder and arms.

In a separate accident Sunday night, a Big Clifty woman suffered minor injuries after being involved in a two-vehicle accident.

According to Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jarrod Mudd, Margie Helm, 74, Big Clifty, was traveling on KY223 in her 1989 Oldsmobile 88 when she pulled out in front of Allen Davies’ 1999 Dodge Ram. Davies struck Helm’s car in the side.

Emergency Medical Services transported Helm to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries.
