With a new sign out front and a new coat of paint on the building, The Leitchfield Peddler and Tobacco Shack is ready and open for business.
Located off of West Market Street in Leitchfield, new owners Wes and Judy Ball offer the public a low-cost shopping experience for everything the heart desires.
Over 50 consignment booths are filled with things such as top-quality wood furniture, home furnishings, and clothing in all sizes, books and much more.
Since October 1 of this year, the couple has made it their duty to create a central location that is affordable for people to shop in.
Ball explained why he and his wife decided to go into this type of business.
“Judy worked there for a year before we took it over,” Wes said. “We have always liked flea markets, and enjoyed meeting new people. We feel like we are doing a lot of good for the community, by offering a variety of items at lower prices.”
One of their main goals is to provide spaces for local vendors. This allows people in the area to showcase their talents, as well as put money back into the county.
For a minimal fee anyone can rent a booth on a monthly basis. The rest of the money collected in goes back to that particular vendor.
“Most of our vendors are local,” Wes explained, “but some are from Bowling Green, Owensboro and Breckinridge County. We have tried to clean the place up a bit, and have added a new sign out front. A lot of people did not even know we were here. Now we have people coming in from as far away as Indiana to buy things in the store. We want to give the public a clean environment, that offers a fun and rewarding shopping experience.”
Hours of operation for both businesses are Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
