Leitchfield police are warning city residents to beware, since the department is dealing with three break-ins during just the first week of the month.
The first of three occurrences happened last Wednesday at Corner Rent All, located off Harrison Street in Leitchfield.
According to Leitchfield Police Detective Gary Troutman, the suspect broke into the business and stole an undetermined amount of petty cash.
On December 4 two more burglaries occurred, one at the Grayson County Fairgrounds (Brandenburg Road) and the other at James D. Beville City Park (William Thomason Byway).
Several buildings at the fairgrounds were vandalized and broken into.
The last case involved money being stolen from the donation box at the city park. All proceeds collected from the box were to go towards next years Light Up Leitchfield program.
Troutman felt the three incidences were not related, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. It is still too early in the investigation to make any determinations.
"People need to be aware that this time of year thefts pick up," he said. "We all need to be more cautious."
A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction regarding the Corner Rent All office.
Anyone with any information on the three cases is urged to contact Troutman by phone at 270-259-3850. All calls will be kept confidential.
