All tips and donations, collected during the week of December 7-12 from Farmer's Feedmill Restaurant, will be used to provide Christmas gifts for kids in the county. The business is located at 110 Sequoia Drive in Leitchfield.
Manager Jill Blakenship said the main goal of the week is to assist families during hard times.
"We hope to raise enough for 25 kids," Blankenship explained. "We want to provide Christmas to children, who otherwise may not have it."
Each day from 11-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. guest servers and hosts plan to service customers, in hopes of collecting tips for the cause.
Family Resource Center Director Faye Critchelow said the gifts will be handed out to the kids on December 17 at Farmer's restaurant.
"We put the families through a process," Critchelow explained, "to make sure they qualify. Then we separate the children into schools all over the county. The parents are contacted to be at Farmers on that day. Jill will give the gifts to the children. We try to do a few children from each school in county."
Blankenship urged residents to come out and support their local officials. For most, it is the first time that they have had to wait tables or seat people.
The lineup of guests for the week include local ministers and Warren RECC lineman on Monday, realtors and postal workers on Tuesday, News-Gazette staff and doctors on Wednesday, local priests and bankers on Thursday, Leitchfield Police Department and fire department on Friday and Oran P. Lawler Elementary teachers and Grayson County Detention Center employees on Saturday.
"If everybody does a little, it goes a long way," Blankenship said.
