The annual Christmas Parade will celebrate the Grayson County Bicentennial with the

Birthday Bash theme when it travels down Main Street in Leitchfield this Saturday.

With several already registered for the Christmas Parade, the morning promises to be a fun-filled day full of magical moments for young and old.

The theme of this year’s parade is Birthday Bash and entries can use the theme or use imagination.

“It is always fun to see how the groups come up with ideas to show what Christmas means to them,” said Executive Director of the Grayson County Chamber of Commerce, Caryn Lewis.

Lineup for the parade begins at 9 a.m. at the Grayson County Fairgrounds and will begin to run through the streets of Leitchfield to South Gate Mall at 10 a.m.

Lewis is encouraging folks to come out and watch or put together an entry for the parade. “It is not too late to join in the fun and be real creative with an entry for the parade itself,” said Lewis.

There are many events around the county to celebrate the holiday in addition to the parade.

The Christmas displays at the James D. Beville Park will light up the streets of the park with colorful light displays from local businesses and organizations.

“Light up Leitchfield” will celebrate its second season with the official kick off for this event on Friday, December 4, at 6 p.m. and will include entertainment, guest speakers, refreshments and Santa.

The displays will be shown throughout the Christmas Season from dusk until 10 p.m.

“We are encouraging people to enter through Radford Way (the north entrance of Beville park),” said Director of the Grayson County Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson, “follow the signs around the park and exit on Bobby Bland Way.”

Caneyville's Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m. The Caneyville community will come together to begin the celebration of the holiday season with a brief devotional.

Santa will arrive in the town on a fire truck to give the children the opportunity share their wishes with him. There will be refreshments by the City of Caneyville and treat bags provided by the Bank of Caneyville.
