Dear Editor,
Shame on you Chester Shartzer! I read the article in this newspaper regarding the alcohol vote in Leitchfield. I live down on the lake, but it really got me stirring when I read it. The fact that you said it was a moral reason you formed the group and not religious and then you tell the preachers to take it to their pulpits is appalling. The pulpit shouldn’t be used for your political agenda! It’s not what the House of the Lord is for! Shame on you Chester Shartzer! The article then says that you are spreading rumors about the employees at the City of Leitchfield. In the bible, Leviticus 19:16 is something you read sir. I don’t think you should be spreading rumors about your fellow man. Shame on you Chester Shartzer! You also said that nothing good could come of this vote and mentioned Murray, Ky as a city in shambles. Shame on you Chester Shartzer! My granddaughter goes to Murray and it is a lovely town. The city enjoyed an Applebee’s right beside their campus shortly after their vote. It’s a wonderful thing down there. Don’t you dare go shamming Murray, Mr. Shartzer. Quit using fear to scare people! I really don’t care which way this thing goes, but I got tired of reading what Chester Shartzer was saying. Stay out of it and quit judging people. There are people in your congregation and your neighborhood who enjoy a glass of wine with their meal. So be it, I say! Shame, Shame, Shame. I hope people can just see through all this mess.

I would have written this letter by hand but my arthritis is so hard for me to hold a pen. At my age I should not let things like this bother me but I couldn’t help but say something.
To the editor,
I have been reading in the Grayson County News-Gazette that some Leitchfield city residents are trying to get a petition signed to see if they can get an election, giving city residents a chance to vote to see if the city can become moist, or damp. Giving restaurants a chance to sell alcoholic drinks.
I understand that the people in the county cannot vote on this issue. My question is then why should the people in the county be able to purchase the alcoholic drinks at these restaurants? “They should not be able to.”
I hope the moist, damp issue fails to pass. This is my opinion.
