Leitchfield Superintendent of Public Works Keith Jones explained funding for the work would come out the city’s general budget, which is allocated each year for projects like this.
“The work started a couple of weeks ago,” Jones mentioned. “Around some of the older buildings, water had settled and was coming back into the buildings. That is why we decided to tear down the sidewalks and put in new.”
Over 95 feet of concrete has been repaired so far. City workers are expected to be complete with the first portion of the daily-maintenance effort by early next week.
