Green Farm Resort is changing the face of Falls of Rough, with plans in the works for a new Christian camp, the restoration of the old mill and also bringing back an annual Labor Day street festival for the area.

The 6,000-acre farm is located at 57 Jenny Green Road in Falls of Rough.

Owner JR Newman wanted to invite people to come out on September 5 to enjoy a fun-filled day of entertainment for all ages, as well as music provided by former American Idol contestant and Christian artist Phil Stacey.

The street festival, which is free to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. and end at dusk.

The location of the event will be in front of the old general store and on the grounds in front of the Green mansion.

“The main goal is to bring the local people,” Newman explained, “in to see what Green Farm is all about. We also want to introduce them to what we are doing with the mill and the Christian camp.”

Ella’s Farm (Christian camp) is going to be located on the campus of Green Farm. It will house an equestrian center for abused animals, as well as a farm to plant crops.

“We want to bring in animals that have been abused,” Newman said, “that way the kids can connect with helping bring the animals back to their initial state. We also want the kids to help with planting crops, showing them how to take care of the crops and harvesting them.”

Newman is hoping to restore the mill back to its original state, and put it back into production.

Activities for the day will include face painting for the kids, clowns, a moon jump, a cornhole tournament and much more.
