A packed house filled the seats at Pine Knob Theatre for a special show Friday, August 14, when all the proceeds from that show where donated to the Grayson County Alliance.

The two-hour show, that was a combination of two of the theatres favorites, Elvis Night and At the Hop raised close to $2,700 for the families of Grayson County.

“We had over 300 people who attended the show,” said Pine Knob Theatre owner Honus Shain. “Everything we made went directly to the Alliance. All the cast members donated their time and some even made a monetary donation as well.”

The live outdoor show was performed by the “Countdowns” members, which included Honus and Debbie Shain, JR Alvey, Pat Willis, John Glen, Jamie Johnson, Lance Rich and Shannon Riggs with a special guest appearance by Ron Hines on the keyboards.

“This was such a success that we plan to hold another show like this one next year, “ said Shain. “ Next year we will find a different group that needs funds and when we get ready to do our schedule for next year we will include that show in the schedule.”

The money raised from the show will help the local food pantry feed the more than 900 families of Grayson County that are served each month.

“We were thrilled to have this fund raiser through Debbie and Honus Shain,” said Grayson County Alliance President Charlotte Shaw. “It was great to see so many people out supporting not just the theatre but the Alliance as well.”

The Grayson County Alliance is involved in several projects in the county to help out the less fortunate.

“We support the prescription program and the backpack program, “ said Shaw. “Repair Affair is another one the ways we help out in the community.”

Shaw added the annual campaign asking donors to send in their yearly contribution is coming up.

Anyone wishing to make a donation or volunteer time is asked to contact the Grayson County Alliance at (270) 259-4000.
