WK fatal accident involves local teen

A Leitchfield teen was flown to a Louisville hospital following a fatal accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway Sunday afternoon.

According to a report from the Kentucky State Police, Matthew D. Clark 26, of Bowling Green, was operating a 1993 Ford passenger truck traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle.

Clark reported the right rear tire truck blew and he drove off the right shoulder of the roadway.

The truck overturned and struck a tree at the 128 mile marker east bound lane of the WK parkway.

The driver was not injured and refused treatment and transport.

The passenger, who was traveling in the front of the truck Augusta N. Clark, 27, of Bowling Green, was ejected from the vehicle.

She received life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by LifeNet where she later died.

Clark was not wearing her seat belt, reported Kentucky State Trooper Bruce Reeves.

An unidentified 13-year-old female of Leitchfield, was one of three children who were traveling in the truck. The teen received non-life threatening injuries was transported to Kosair Children Hospital by LifeNet.

A two-year-old male and a four-year-old female both from Bowling Green, received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County Emergency Medical Services.
