Summer events for Rough River Lake and Nolin Lake

Rough River

• July 11 Magnolia 5K Run or Walk -

It starts at the Rough River State Resort Park, near the airport entrance.

People who pre-register pay $15, and receive a t-shirt. Those who register the day of the race must pay $20.

Four state parks are involved in the series, EP Tom Sawyer, Barren River, Taylorsville and Rough River.

• July 17-19 Official KY State Old Time Fiddlers contest -

The Leitchfield Rotary Club is sponsoring the contest.

• July 25 Rumble over Rough NWL Wakeboarding Tournament -

Last year over 150 participated. Go to www.nicksboatdock.com for more information.

• Lady of the Lake tours -

The tours are every day of the week starting at 10 a.m. On Saturday and Sunday the tours will take place from 10-2 p.m. Tours last for about one hour and a half. The boat seats 30-35 people. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children and children four and under are free.

Nolin Lake

• June 13 Bluegrass on the Nolin -

It is held at Moutardier Boat Dock from 6-10 p.m.

The Friends of the Nolin are looking for more people to come out and play.

Red roof sells barbeque sandwiches and barbeque plates on that night.

The special occasion is sponsored by Bluegrass Cellular.

The event will also take place on July 11 and 18 at Wax.

A cornhole tournament will take place during all three nights.

Other recreational activities are available; cave tours, golf, canoeing and horseback riding.
