Kids from the Educational Ladder will be cruising on their tricycles to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on May 27.

The business, located at 610 Mill Street, will have the parking lot full of two to four-year-olds racing around a road course.

Director Linda Ford explained that the kids collected donations to ride their tricycles or bikes. The money collected will be used to fund cancer treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This is not the first time that the Educational Ladder has hosted the event. Last year the preschoolers raised over $800.

“We will have 34 kids participating this year,” Ford said. “The kids spent all last week getting ready for the Trike-A-Thon by watching videos on driving safety. It is a hands-on learning experience for them.”

Anyone who wishes to donate to the cause can contact Ford or owner Tina Milliner by phone at 270-259-0211. All checks need to be made payable to St. Jude. Donations will be accepted even after the event takes place.

“Children are our love,” she mentioned. “We are here to help the children. It is a blessing to be able to do this every year. St. Jude is a very needy organization. People respond to this pretty well. We got a lot of participation last year. “

For more information on how to host a Trike-A-Thon event call 1-800-BIKE or go St. Jude’s website, www.st.jude.org/trike.
