Caneyville to invest in some new signage

The City of Caneyville will soon have new signs at each of the five entrances into the city.

The Caneyville City Commission reviewed the designs and proposals from Peerce Signs at a cost of $2,500 and Infinity Signs and Grafix at a cost of $2,443.03. The commission agreed to award the work to Peerce Signs for their design.

In other business:

• Avery Fleener reported the work on the sewer rehab is behind schedule, as the final workday noted in the contract is May 25. Work is to begin May 18 on the Highway 62 lift station.

• The commission agreed to adopt the Vehicle Replacement Policy.

• After Jeremy Lindsey gave a the commission a proposal to do excavation work, fill, seed and gravel for the vacant lot next to City Hall for $3,000 it was agreed the work would be completed. The excavating work will divert run off water to the ditch along the right-of-way.

• The commission agreed to allow Fleener to obtain his waste distribution license and attend the necessary classes.

• It was agreed four tires for the city’s Suburban will be replaced at state contract cost

of $525.

• Caneyville Fire/Police Chief Anthony Clark reported the collections for Crusade for Children would be June 5-7.

• The commission approved the purchase of a radar gun for the police department at a cost of $495.

The commission agreed to table the discussion and adoption of a nuisance ordinance until its June meeting.
