A number of area residents contacted the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning after seeing a vehicle in a flooded creek alongside of US Highway 62 and Clark School Road.

According to Sheriff Rick Clemons, the vehicle had been wrecked the night before, on Sunday, March 17, and had been left in the creek by the driver.

Clemons said that the vehicle is licensed to Big Clifty resident Vicki Carby, who left it in the creek bed before heavy rains began.

According to GCSO, Carby was travelling east on US 62 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and wrecked it. Carby was uninjured in the accident.

Significant rains which began later that night and continued on into Monday flooded the creek bed and the vehicle which was still in it, giving passersby a scary glimpse of what appeared to be a much more deadly accident.
