A Leitchfield man with an extensive criminal history is wanted for the armed robbery of a Lexington bank.
An arrest warrant was issued in Fayette County for 45-year-old Christopher Schenk, who is believed to have robbed the U.S. Bank on Richmond Road in Lexington on January 28.
Schenk allegedly pointed a pistol at a bank teller, demanding cash. He was caught on bank surveillance cameras during the incident, and was identified by investigating officers on Wednesday, February 20.
Schenk was previously found guilty of a Hardin County bank robbery, for which he served 20 percent of his eight-year sentence. According to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, he has a notable criminal history here in his native Grayson County as well.
Schenk’s whereabouts are not currently known, though police are actively pursuing his arrest.Lexington Police Department’s Detective McCowen is in charge of the investigation.
Schenk is known to drive a brown, 1999 Ford van with Kentucky license plate 464LMZ. He is believed to possibly be in the Fayette or Jefferson County areas, though he is also known to frequent Hardin County and is listed as a resident of Grayson County.
