A Leitchfield woman will face the Warren County Grand Jury on drug charges which stemmed from a Bowling Green traffic stop on Sunday, January 6, according to the Warren County Court Clerk’s office.

36-year-old Laticia Matthews was reportedly pulled over by the Bowling Green Police Department for disregarding a stop sign at the intersection of West Main Avenue and Victoria Street.

According to an article by BG Daily News, “Police searched the vehicle and found a glass pipe, two plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine, a pocket knife and a plastic straw with powdery residue.”

The Bowling Green news source said that Matthews was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, buying/possession of drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign; however, according to the court clerk’s office Matthews is officially listed as being charged with possession of cocaine, not methamphetamines.

Matthews was lodged in the Warren County Detention Center overnight, and was released Monday, January 7, on a $1,000 surety bond.

Matthews appeared in court on Wednesday, January 9, and the case was passed on to the Grand Jury; however a date has not yet been set for the trial.
