Lawrence D. Larry Coates, age 79 of Louisville, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the V. A. Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Leitchfield, he was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rosalyn. He was a veteran of the U S Army and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Coates, and his children, David (Leslie), Bill (Kathy),m Eddie (Sandy), and Patricia. He is also survived by brothers Arnold, Ronald and Arthur, and sister Dolores, and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Per his final wishes, his body was donated to the University of Louisville Medical Center. A memorial service, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors was held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
