Harold Thomas “Tommy” Armes, age 74 of Harned, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Breckinridge County on October 26, 1938, the son of the late Floyd and Edna Nottingham Armes. Tommy was a retired carpenter who enjoyed farming, bird hunting and sports. He was a former T-ball, Little League and Babe Ruth coach. He was a member of Freedom Cumberland Church and an Army veteran.

Tommy is survived by his wife , Wanda Norton Armes, of Harned; three children, Rendell Armes and his wife Jenny, of Harned, Rod Armes and his wife Cheryl, of Hardinsburg, and Bridget Shartzer and her husband Larry, of Leitchfield; seven grandchildren, Ryne, Rory, Robyn, Lyndsey and Riley Armes, and Lane and Landon Shartzer; one brother, Daniel Armes, of Texas.

Funeral services will be held at Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Don Bruington and Rev. Jeff McMichael officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

Visitation at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2013 4-8 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
