Daisy Sanders Smith, age 87, of Leitchfield, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, in Leitchfield.

She was born on January 27, 1925, in Edmonson County, the daughter of the late Hez and Lena Houchens Sanders.

She was a housewife and homemaker, who enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the New Harmony United Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, David Smith (Susan), of Louisville, and Randell Smith (Pat), of Leitchfield; two daughters, Deloris Bach (Paul), of Morgantown, and Francis Davis (Murrel), of Leitchfield; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Effie Doyle and Doris Newton, both of Leitchfield.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elza Roscoe Smith, two children, Damon Smith and Jeannette Shirley, and eight brothers and sisters, Willard, Thomas, Kermit and Dempsey Sanders, Lucille VanMeter, Bernice Newton, Maxine Whobrey and Irene Sanders.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, with Bro Randy Meredith officiating. Burial was in the Sanders Cemetery.
