George David Braun passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2012.
He was born and raised in Kentucky with his two deceased brothers, Louis Allen and Martin Lee Braun. When David was a young man, he traded in his farm boy life to travel the world and serve his country in the United States Air Force.
After leaving the service he worked as an Electronic Supervisor for the Sacramento Army Depot until he retired in 1993. Through the years, he volunteered as a United Way Coordinator, a Cub Scout troop leader, Search and Rescue member and was a Senior Member in Civil Air Patrol, Squadron 85. He was also a Master Mason in Union Kit Carson Lodge No. 58 and a member of the Scottish Rite.
David had many interests through the years, including gardening, camping, astronomy, art, animals and travel. He also had a passion for aviation, motorcycles and listening to Marty Robbins. Poetry was one of his gifts the family will cherish, as he left many eloquent poems behind, telling stories about his life and sharing sentiments about loved ones. Above all he was a loving husband to his wife of 42 years, father of two daughters, and a grandfather to five children. He also cherished his extended family in California and Kentucky.
A private gathering was held in the family home to honor his memory. Because David was a life long blood donor, in lieu of donations or flowers the family asks for others to please consider donating blood to share the gift of life.
