Margaret Parson, age 93 of Leitchfield, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Grayson Manor.

She was born in Breckinridge County, on July 28, 1918, the daughter of the late Otie and Fannie Smith Nelson. She was a member of Leitchfield United Methodist Church and retired from Pharshare Manufacturing. Margaret was known as the “cake lady” to her co-workers because she always remembered their birthdays with a homemade cake. Even though she did not drive, she was very independent, walking to work, church and to shop. She was an avid U of K fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burman, in 1946, and two brothers, Paul and William Murl Nelson

Margaret is survived by two sisters, Jean Midkiff, of Owensboro, and Virginia Purvis, of Louisville, and nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ricky Nelson, of Brandenburg.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1 p.m. with burial in the Union Star Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
