Grayson County Judge Executive Gary Logsdon and Leitchfield Mayor William Thomason signed into effect a proclamation naming May 13 through May 19 “National Nursing Home Week” in Grayson County.

Employees of Spring View Health and Rehab Center were onhand for the signing and gave out information about some of the festivities that will be held at SVHRC throughout the week.

On Sunday, the ladies at the facility were treated to corsages and visiting hours were extended for Mother’s Day. Monday there was a balloon release, bingo, a luau party and lemonade on the porch.

Tuesday was designated “Western Day” and featured hot chocolate and cookies along with a grill-out and bingo.

Wednesday is Mardi Gras Day and the second-graders from Wilkey Elementary Schools will be picnicking with the residents. There will also be a cookout and a movie with popcorn.

Thursday is “Sports Team Day” with a parade of flags, Chinese and Italian food on the menu, music, and a variety of games such as cornhole, baseball and basketball.

Friday ends the week with “Pajama Day” and another picnic.

National Nursing Home Week is sponsored by the American Health Care Association, the Kentucky Health Care Association and the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities.
