Police expect a Clarkson couple to turn themselves in today on charges of marijuana cultivation.

Ollie Preston, 55, and his wife, Michelle Preston, 48, of 557 Fields Lane, in Clarkson, were found with 25 marijuana plants, a grow light and other materials used for the cultivation of marijuana during an unrelated visit from Grayson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Buck Meredith on April 5.

According to Detective Jeff Kelsey, Meredith was responding to a call about horses running at large in the area. He was told that the horses may belong to the Prestons, and went to the residence to check.

Meredith noted upon arrival that there were large dogs tied at the front and rear doors of the horses, so he knocked on a window to try to get the homeowners to come to the door.

From outside of the house, Meredith could see at least 12 marijuana plants.

The officer backed off and called to have a search warrant issued.

With the warrant issued, Meredith, along with Deputy Kevin Newton and Detective Jeff Kelsey, discovered the extensive indoor grow.

The couple, who was cooperative with the Sheriff’s Department throughout the investigation, will be arrested on warrants and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
