The Grayson County Humane Society will be holding a special spay/neuter clinic Jan. 25 in an attempt to reduce the numbers of homeless cats in Leitchfield.
Open to Leitchfield residents only, the clinic will take the first 30 cats – 15 males and 15 females – registered and prepaid by Jan. 18.
“We are trying to target those outside cats that may reproduce and then cause the resident to bring them to us because they have too many,” said the Humane Society’s Donna White. “Due to the number of cats we take in annually…we know it is better to prevent the births than try to find homes or rescues for these animals.”
The cost of the surgery is $25, which also includes a rabies vaccination.
For more information, call the Leitchfield Animal Shelter at 230-8839.
The Humane Society also offers low-cost spay/neuter clinics for cats and dogs the first Wednesday and third Thursday of each month.
