Two men were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on January 1 in two separate incidents.

Christian Coffman, of Leitchfield Loop, in Cecilia, was traveling north on Wax Road approximately 12 miles east of the City of Clarkson when he lost control of the vehicle, crossing into a ditch, and then hitting a tree, according to the police report filed with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred about ten minutes into the new year.

Coffman’s 1991 Ford F250 received moderate to severe damage, and was towed by Tanner’s Towing Company, the report said.

Coffman was arrested on DUI charges, and was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where he underwent a blood alcohol test, and received medical clearance.

A separate police report states that at approximately 3:46 that same afternoon, Lance Bell, 30, was involved in an accident as he was traveling east about one mile west of Clarkson at around the 3200 block of Elizabethtown Road.

According to the report, Bell stated that he lost control of his 1996 General Motors Jimmy when he hit a slick spot on the road. Bell explained that he then crossed into the opposite lane, went into a ditch, and overturned the vehicle.

Bell was not seriously injured, though his vehicle sustained severe damage.

Bell was given a field sobriety test and cited for driving under the influence. He was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for medical treatment and a blood alcohol test.

Both arrests were made by Deputy Buck Meredith of the GC Sheriff’s Department.
