Representatives from the non-profit organization, Communicare, addressed attendees of the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday afternoon, in hopes of gaining more awareness and raising additional funds for their planned expansion project.

Dr. Gus Seger, Director of the Grayson and Breckinridge County Communicare programs, explained to the group that over the past ten years, the organization has expanded from a staff of about ten to a staff of around 45 employees at three separate locations.

“Our services have been scattered,” he added, acknowledging the benefits of putting each of their programs in one centralized location.

The group, which has been in full-force fundraising mode over the past months and continues to push forward at a tireless rate, shut down the town square recently in an effort to raise money for their new facility, which would be located on Commerce Drive.

“Our goal is one million dollars,” Seger said, “and we realize that’s ambitious, but right now any little bit helps.”

In addition to making sure their clients “have their basic needs met,” Seger hopes that the expansion would allow Communicare to employ more people in Grayson County.
