Cougars hand out soccer awards

Followng a successful soccer season in which the Cougars won nine games and reached the second round of the Eighth Distriict Tournament, they handed out team awards last Sunday at a banquet held at the Centre on Main.

Four seniors were recognized for their play in their final season, T. J. Hayes, Joey Henry, Kelsey Overton and Russell Uebelacker.

Hayes was named the team's Most Valuable Player and received the award from head coach Josh Baldwin. Henry took home the Defensive Award, while junior Michael Thomas was given the Offensive Award.

Four players, Thomas, Hayes, Jordan Bounds and Damon Jones were recognized with Five-Year Awards for sticking with the program since middle school.

Brett Carbaugh was named the team's Most Improved Player, while Jonathan Reynolds took home the team's Spirit Award.

Paul Dirks, an exchange student from Germany, received an award for participating this season.

In addition, 12 players received Letter G awards and nine other received bars representing multiple Letter G awards. Those receiving letters included: Reynolds, Dirks, Uebelacker, Overton, Max Cabe, Brent Crawford, Bryan Gil, Ben Nelson, Bradley Stone, Cody Woosley, Chase Watson, and Eric Liptak.

Those receiving bars included: Hayes, Thomas, Bounds, Carbaugh, Jones, Isaac Clemons, Bobbi Cockriel, Colton Cockriel, and Trey Sanders.
