According to a report from the Clarkson Fire Department Public Relations Officer Ryan Hatfield, a call came into the firehouse around 12:30 a.m. reporting a trailer fire at 114 Braton Road in Clarkson.
“When we arrived on the scene the trailer was fully involved in flames,” said Hatfield.
The owner of the trailer, Tim Campbell, reported he had been remodeling the mobile home and no one lived inside the trailer, added Hatfield. The mobile home was a total loss.
An identified person noticed the flames from the mobile home just after midnight and notified the E-911 office of the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown and no investigation will be conducted unless the property owner request an investigation, reported Hatfield.
“We called Leitchfield Fire Department in for assistance with water,” said Hatfield. “Right now when ever we have a fire like this we need assistance from another department but as soon as we get our new tanker that we received the grant for, we will no longer need to call for help.”
The fire department was approved for a $194,750 grant to purchase a new tanker truck in early December.
Fire Chief Andy Cain said officials applied for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program in March.
“It is a 95 percent grant ,” explained Cain. “The city must come up with the rest, which is $10,240.”
Cain is looking into purchasing a 1,800-gallon tanker truck with the grant money.
