Granting a Christmas Wish was the theme of a week long charity fundraising event at Farmer’s Feed Mill Restaurant in Leitchfield.

Over $4,100 was raised, allowing 36 children to receive gifts for Christmas this year. Funding came from all the donations and tips that were collected.

The event, which took place from December 8-13, involved local volunteers donating two hours each as a guest host or a server.

Children even pitched in to help out. On Monday six-year-old Shelby Weedman was a guest server, and on Friday night, five-year-old Savannah Mudd was a guest host. Manager Jill Blankenship said it was great to see kids helping other kids.

Blankenship talked about why the business hosts Granting a Christmas Wish every year.

“It makes our Christmas, to do something like this for the kids,” explained Blankenship.

Names of the needs-based children were collected from the family resource centers, and other local people.

On December 15 restaurant employees shopped for presents for the children. The parents will pick up the presents at the restaurant.

“We reached our goal of money collected for each child,” Blankenship happily added, “We really appreciated all of the volunteers that came out. The attitude that everybody came in with was great. Our employees were very gracious to the volunteers. The service was excellent, and it was an uplifting experience to the week.”
