Being a mother is one of the hardest, yet most rewarding roles I have ever held.

There is so much responsibility that goes along with it.

You have to make sure that your children are taken care of in all aspects of their life.

For example, my mornings are filled with controlled chaos.

I wake up check on Kip, our cat, to make sure he has plenty of food and water.

Then I have to clean out the dreaded litter box.

By this time I hear Addison, our youngest, yelling for me.

I pick her up out of her crib, change her diaper, and change her clothes.

Savannah, the oldest, is the last one to wake up. That is a battle in itself.

She likes to sleep in, and is not a morning person.

I pick out her uniform for the day, and she starts to get dressed.

We all then go to the bathroom to brush our teeth, wash our faces, clean our ears, and brush our hair.

Addison really enjoys brushing her teeth. It makes her feel like she is a big girl.

While we are doing this Kip is in the other room ripping ornaments off of our tree.

It is a hassle picking up the mess, but I still have to laugh at Kip swinging on one of the tree limbs.

The kids go to the living room to watch cartoons.

I get them both something to eat and drink for breakfast, and start packing their lunches.

By this time I am already exhausted.

Savannah watches Addison for me while I take all of our stuff out to the car.

During the wintertime I have to wake up earlier to let the car warm up for the girls.

If I am lucky I grab me a sandwich for breakfast, before we leave the house.

Most of the time I just get myself something to drink.

Addison is like a blood hound when it comes to food. She really cherishes it.

Addison is at the age where she is anxious to discover all the new things out there.

When I am eating something she is there in no time wanting to taste test my food.

I grumble sometimes, but secretly I would not have things any other way.

My kids are my life. They mean everything to me.

The type of career I have the kids get to be exposed to it at times.

They go with me on assignments, and get to meet some really interesting people.

Savannah is old enough now to really enjoy going to these events.

I want my children to be exposed to as many things as they can.

That way when they get older there is so many options available for them.

Having children is like a rite of passage.

It really makes you understand the importance of being a parent.

My mother and father taught me respect, honor, and hardwork.

Those are key things that I want to instill in my children.

The values I was taught have made me the person I am today.

I make mistakes just like anyone, but I have learned from them.

With having children it has given me the chance to make my wrongs right for them.

I never understood when I was younger that my parents were kids at one time too.

They have already lived through some of the things I am just now going through.

Now that I am a mother I realize that. I turn to my mother and father for advice on several things.

Another person I turn to is God. Faith in the Lord, and prayer can get you through anything. Children are God’s gift to us.

My advice to new parents is to have a good support system to turn to when you need something.

Do not let pride stand in the way of you being a better parent.

To my kids, I want to say thank you for showing me how to live again. Believe it or not, kids have a way of teaching you things also.
