Grayson County trailed only once in the game, at 2-0. Edmonson’s Ariel Hodge scored at the 3:20 mark of the first period to put the Lady Wildcats in front.
Grayson County then scored 10 unanswered points and took a 10-2 lead at the 4:06 mark of the second quarter following a lay-up by Brooklyn Williams.
A three-pointer at the buzzer by Edmonson County’s Brandi Lindsey cut the lead to five points, 12-7 at the half.
Williams buried a three at 4:06 of the third quarter to run the lead back to eight, but Lindsey hit her second three of the game at the 2:44 mark to make it five points once more, 15-10.
Sarah Pierce then closed out the scoring with a 10-footer with 1:44 left and the Lady Cougars went into the fourth quarter leading 17-10.
Grayson County then held the Lady Wildcats without a point in the fourth quarter and cruised to the 11-point win.
Lindsey led all scorers in the game with eight points. Courtney Vincent led the Lady Cougars with six points and shared the rebounding lead with Pierce and Raven Shelton with six each. Williams finished the night with five points and added two rebounds and two steals.
Sloane Embry had four points and two assists, while Pierce, Dessarae Mudd and Cortney Tomes had two points apiece to close out the Lady Cougar scoring. Tomes added five rebounds to her totals.
