As of press time, each candidate for Leitchfield City Council and Clarkson Commission are scheduled to attend.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday night. Candidates for Leitchfield are asked to appear between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. to draw numbers for order in which they will address the audience. The Clarkson Commission portion of the event will take place around 7 p.m.
According to News-Gazette Editor Timothy Kiger, the “Stump & Thump” is an opportunity for local voters to get out and see what the candidates for Leitchfield City Council and the Clarkson City Commission have to say about the issues that affect them.
“What we’re doing is providing a venue for all the candidates to get together and give a ‘stump’ talk to the community about issues they feel are important, or they can just ‘thump’ their chest a bit about why they are the best candidate for the job,” he explained.
He said he hopes the community takes the opportunity to get out and hear what the candidates have to say.
Kiger added that refreshments would be available.
